Ann E. Sanford, Martial Arts Instructor

Gulfport Martial Arts

Ann E. Sanford

Coach Ann has been an active competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since August of 2007. At a mere 110lbs, she has won multiple state championships, but it wasn’t until October of 2013 that she became the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion (male or female) out of Mississippi state. As one of the smallest fighters at Alan Belcher MMA Club, Coach Ann has learned to adopt technique over strength and she uses her flexibility and timing to submit opponents who are much larger than her.

As the head of Alan Belcher’s Women’s Self Defense programs in both Gulfport and D’iberville locations, Coach Ann gives her time to any woman wanting to learn. She is living proof that, with the right knowledge and training, anyone can learn to protect themselves. She specializes in adapting the techniques for any skill level, age or body type in an all female training environment. Her team of over 30 actively training women meets twice a week to sharpen their knowledge of leverage, anatomy and the safety mindset.

Coach Ann loves to give back to the community by doing free seminars for the women of Keesler Air force Base. She also teaches the staff of local casinos about safety in parking garages, does school visits for nursing students and special private lessons for young ladies going off to college.
